Energy Performance Certificate

• Purpose: An EPC rates the energy efficiency of a property, providing potential buyers or tenants with an understanding of the property's energy usage and carbon dioxide emissions. It also includes recommendations for improving the energy efficiency of the property.

• Rating System: The certificate rates a building on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). The rating is based on factors like the insulation, heating system, and the building's overall energy consumption. This certificate is then valid for 10 years. 

In the UK, it is a legal requirement to have an EPC for properties that are being sold or rented. This rating must be an E or higher to be accepted as stated in government regulations.
